Lester “Les” Wayne Washington, 79, of Sunset, S.C. passed to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at his home.



Born in Douglassville, TX, he was the son of the late George Ellis and Charlie Virginia Hunt Washington. Les was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. He was active in many churches, most recently Christ Church of Greenville, SC, McKinney Chapel in the Cliffs and he sang in the choir at the Reserve Chapel. Lester “Les” Wayne Washington, 79, of Sunset, S.C. passed to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at his home.



Born in Douglassville, TX, he was the son of the late George Ellis and Charlie Virginia Hunt Washington. Les was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. He was active in many churches, most recently Christ Church of Greenville, SC, McKinney Chapel in the Cliffs and he sang in the choir at the Reserve Chapel. Les was the founder of 7UPS.org, ministering to men in a small group Bible study and spreading the Gospel through the Penny Cross Ministry. He was the owner and President of Telechem Corporation where he employed a number of people who also became part of his extended family. Les enjoyed golf, traveling with his wife Barbara and cherished time with family and grandchildren.



Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Barbara Washington; three children, Keith Washington and his wife Carol of Alpharetta, GA, Karen Washington Sillay and her husband Michael of Alpharetta, GA, and Kirk Washington and his wife Pam of Cumming, GA; one brother, Garrett Washington of Pasadena TX; and nine grandchildren, Kelly Washington, Bryan Washington, John Washington, Christopher Sillay and his wife Kristen, Brooke Sillay, Morgan Sillay, Kyle Washington, Jack Washington, and Katy Washington.



In addition to his parents, Mr. Washington is predeceased by one sister, Evelyn Martin.



A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Dunwoody United Methodist Church in Dunwoody, GA at 1:00 PM, with Reverend David Melton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
